International Shipping & Freight Forwarding
International customers — how to purchase from Part Direct
Part Direct is an Australia-based supplier of quality used car and truck parts. Our standard shipping services are primarily designed for customers within Australia.
While we do not currently arrange direct international delivery, customers located outside Australia can still purchase eligible parts from Part Direct by using an Australian freight forwarding or international shipping company.
The forwarding company can receive your order at its Australian warehouse or nominated Australian address and then arrange international transportation to your destination.
How International Orders Work
The process is simple:
- Purchase your part from Part Direct
2. Provide an Australian forwarding address at checkout
3. Part Direct sends the order to that Australian address
4. Your freight forwarder collects or receives the parcel
5. The freight forwarder arranges international transportation to you
Once the parcel has been handed over to your nominated freight forwarding company, the international shipment is managed directly between you and that company.
Step 1 — Find the Part You Need
Browse the Part Direct website and find the vehicle part you require.
Before placing your order, we recommend checking:
- vehicle make and model;
- model year;
- engine and transmission;
- part number where available;
- product description;
- photographs;
- dimensions;
- weight; and
- any specific product conditions.
If you are unsure whether a part is suitable for your vehicle, please contact our team before placing your order.
Step 2 — Choose an Australian Freight Forwarder
You will need to arrange your own freight forwarding company that accepts automotive parts and can transport them from Australia to your destination country.
Your chosen freight forwarder should be able to:
- provide you with an Australian delivery address;
- receive parcels on your behalf;
- accept automotive components;
- arrange international freight;
- provide customs and shipping documentation where applicable; and
- deliver the shipment to your nominated international address.
You are responsible for checking the freight forwarder’s current terms, restrictions, charges and destination requirements before placing your order.
Part Direct does not endorse or guarantee any particular freight forwarding company.
Step 3 — Use the Australian Forwarder’s Address
When placing your order with Part Direct, enter the Australian address supplied by your freight forwarding company as the delivery address.
Make sure you include any:
- customer or membership number;
- warehouse reference;
- suite or unit number;
- account reference; or
- other information required by the forwarding company.
This information is important because the forwarding company may receive many parcels each day.
Please ensure that the delivery information you provide to Part Direct is accurate.
Step 4 — Confirm the Part’s Size and Weight
Our standard parcel shipping is generally limited to items that are:
- under 30 kg, and
- under 1 metre in length.
Actual shipping eligibility may also depend on the item’s shape, packaging, fragility and the requirements of the courier.
Some automotive components may require special freight arrangements because of their size, weight or handling requirements.
Examples may include:
- engines;
- gearboxes;
- transmissions;
- doors;
- tailgates;
- bonnets;
- bumpers;
- panels;
- subframes;
- axles;
- dashboards;
- large interior components; and
- other oversized or heavy parts.
Please contact us before ordering if you are interested in a large, heavy or unusually shaped component.
Glass and Window Parts
We do not ship window glass.
This includes vehicle window glass and other glass components that cannot be safely transported through our standard parcel delivery service.
If you are unsure whether a particular item can be shipped, please contact us before ordering.
Step 5 — Part Direct Ships to Your Forwarder
Once your order has been processed, Part Direct will send the eligible item to the Australian delivery address you provided.
The forwarding company will then receive the parcel according to its own receiving procedures.
Please ensure that your freight forwarder is expecting the shipment and that the information provided to them matches the information on your Part Direct order.
Step 6 — International Freight
After the forwarding company receives your parcel, you will arrange international transportation directly with them.
Depending on the service you select, the freight forwarder may arrange:
- international freight;
- export documentation;
- customs processing;
- freight insurance;
- destination delivery; and
- other services associated with international transportation.
The available services, costs and requirements will depend on your destination country and the forwarding company you select.
Important Information for International Customers
International Freight Is Arranged by the Customer
Part Direct’s responsibility for the shipment ends in accordance with the delivery arrangements agreed for your order and the point at which the parcel is handed to your nominated forwarding provider.
Once the parcel has been accepted by your freight forwarder, any subsequent international transportation arrangements are between you and the forwarding company.
This includes matters such as:
- international freight;
- customs clearance;
- import requirements;
- destination charges;
- duties and taxes;
- customs delays;
- import permits;
- prohibited or restricted goods;
- destination-country regulations; and
- final delivery.
Please contact your forwarding company directly for assistance with these matters.
Customs, Duties and Import Requirements
Every country has its own requirements for importing automotive parts.
Before purchasing, we recommend checking the requirements that apply to your destination.
Depending on the country and type of part, you may be responsible for:
- customs duties;
- import taxes;
- GST/VAT or similar charges;
- customs clearance fees;
- inspection fees;
- storage charges;
- permits;
- documentation; and
- other destination-related costs.
These costs are not included in the Part Direct product price unless specifically stated.
Part Direct cannot guarantee that a particular part will be permitted into your destination country.
The customer is responsible for checking import requirements before placing an international order.
Freight Forwarder Restrictions
Not every freight forwarding company accepts every type of automotive component.
Before ordering, check with your selected forwarder regarding:
- maximum weight;
- maximum dimensions;
- batteries;
- fluids;
- engines;
- gearboxes;
- airbags;
- fuel-system components;
- electrical components;
- glass;
- hazardous or restricted materials; and
- any other products subject to transportation restrictions.
If your forwarding company refuses to accept an item after you have purchased it, contact Part Direct before arranging alternative transport.
Packaging
We will package eligible parts using our standard packaging methods appropriate for the type of item and available shipping service.
For international freight, additional packaging or specialised preparation may be required by your forwarding company.
If your forwarder has specific packaging requirements, please contact us before placing the order so we can determine whether those requirements can be accommodated.
Additional packaging or handling charges may apply where special preparation is required.
Collection Orders
Some products are listed as Collection Only because their size, weight, shape or handling requirements make them unsuitable for standard delivery.
If a product is marked for collection:
- Contact Part Direct before arranging collection.
- Confirm a suitable collection time.
- Obtain the collection address and instructions.
- Arrange your own suitable transport or freight provider.
- Ensure the vehicle or transport service is capable of safely carrying the item.
For international customers, a freight company or representative may collect the item on your behalf if this has been arranged with Part Direct in advance.
